Absence/Vacation Days
Due to the short duration of this program there will not be any unpaid vacation or sick days. You will be expected to pay the weekly rate for the 12 week duration of the camp even if your child is not in attendance for the entire 5 days. Special circumstances will be looked at on an individual basis if any arise.

Similarly, I will not have any paid vacation or sick days. Camp will be closed if myself or my children are ill or if there is a death in the family. You will never be expected to pay for a day that camp is closed. I will provide you with as much notice as possible. Parents will be responsible for finding alternate care for these times

Illness Policy
Parents are required to keep a child home when she/he is ill. Illness is defined as the following:
-
A child is running a fever of 100 degrees or higher. The child will be welcomed back to camp after the child has a normal temperature (98.6) for a minimum of 24 hours
-
A child has a highly contagious condition (ex. pink eye, strep throat, lice, flu, covid etc.). This is to minimize the spread of the condition to other children in care. The child will be welcomed back to camp when symptoms have been gone for 24 hours or have a doctor’s note stating they may return to camp.
All of the above illnesses have different symptoms, treatment, and time frames to return to camp. Children must be diagnosed by a doctor and have a note signed by a doctor to return to camp. I will make the final decision on these matters.

Medicine Given
A written permission form will need to be filled out for all medications, prescriptions, and non-
prescription drugs that are given to the child with the amount of the dosage required and the time/frequency required. All medication shall be in the original container and clearly
labeled with your child’s name on it. Prescription medications need to have the pharmacy label indicating the physician’s name, child’s name, instructions, and shall be given in accordance with those instructions as required by state law.
Discipline
There are many positive ways to handle behavior problems that involve being firm and consistent, without causing children to feel shame or humiliation. The following techniques will be used to handle inappropriate behavior.
-
Give a gentle reminder of the rules
-
Redirection from the situation
-
Verbal warning
-
Time out (or as we will call it “Me Time”): Ask the chid to remove his or herself from the situation. I will provide a quiet space for children to relax and offer emotional support as needed.
-
If a child has not responded to a time out, then privileges within the camp will be withheld. I will adhere to discipline policies outlined in the Michigan Licensing Rules for Family Daycare Homes.

What to bring for your child/children
Parents shall provide the following items to keep here for the duration of the program:
-
Change of clothes: Please make sure they always have a change of clothes. You never know when they are needed.
-
A bathing suit: We will be outside playing daily. To avoid the chance of anyone forgetting their suit and having to sit out on the fun , a bathing suit will be kept on site. I will wash them regularly.
-
Waterproof sunscreen clearly labeled with the child's name and how often it needs to be applied

Parents shall provide the following items daily:
-
Appropriate outdoor clothing and shoes
-
A packed cold lunch. To maximize time efficiency I will require that children are sent with lunch each day in a labeled lunch box/bag.
What will be provided on site for your child
Each child will be provided with the following:
-
Labeled water bottle that will be washed each night and refilled each morning and throughout the day
-
A beach towel
-
A rest mat. We will have designated “quiet time” for one hour each day where children can rest, read books or watch a movie
-
A light breakfast. I will have grab-and-go breakfast items available daily such as fruit, granola bars and bagels.
-
Afternoon snack
-
Unlimited access to fruit and veggie snacks such as strawberries, grapes, carrot sticks, sliced cucumbers
